Slate Digital Connect FAQ

Slate Digital Connect Overview

What is Slate Digital Connect?

Slate Digital Connect is an all-in-one installer and activation manager for all Slate Digital, Eiosis, and All Access Pass plugins. Previously, unless you were using Gobbler, you would have needed to download and install each plugin individually (this option is still available if preferred).

Slate Digital Connect can install and update your Slate Digital and All Access Pass plugins, even if you originally installed them from Gobbler or the Installers page. With so many plugins now available, Slate Digital Connect simplifies keeping everything up to date.

Can I use Slate Digital Connect if I only have perpetual licenses like ML-1 or MetaTune?

Yes! Just make sure you only install products you own licenses for. All Slate Digital plugins are available inside Connect, but you can easily check which ones you own by going to the My Products tab inside the app.

How do I update Slate Digital Connect?

Slate Digital Connect should update itself automatically each time you open the app. If you think you're on an older version, you can always manually download the latest version from our Installers page.

How do I install plugins to a different location, like an external drive on PC?

This is only possible for VST2 plugins on PC. macOS installs all plugin formats to their default locations automatically.

To change your VST2 install location on PC:

  • Open Slate Digital Connect
  • Go to My Preferences
  • Click Edit next to VST2 installation path

Note: You’ll need to add this new VST2 path in your DAW so it can find the plugins. Also, moving VST2s doesn’t save much space — the largest plugin data remains in system folders that cannot be moved.

How do I uninstall plugins with Slate Digital Connect?

To uninstall a plugin:

  • Locate the plugin inside Slate Digital Connect
  • Click the three dots () on the plugin card
  • Select Uninstall
  • Follow the prompts to authorize (macOS password or Windows permission)

Note: If you accidentally installed plugins you don’t own (or your All Access Pass/Complete Access expired), uninstalling avoids activation prompts in your DAW.

Do I have to log in to use Slate Digital Connect?

No login is required to install plugins. However, logging in gives you access to the My Products tab, where you’ll only see plugins you own.

To log in, click Sign In or My Products and authenticate with your Slate Digital account:

Does Slate Digital Connect replace iLok?

Not fully.

Slate Digital Connect installs and activates plugins via iLok Cloud or Machine ID — but if you want to activate to a physical iLok dongle, you’ll still need to use the iLok License Manager separately.

Important: The iLok License Manager will still be automatically installed when you install any plugin through Slate Digital Connect.

Do I have to use Slate Digital Connect?

No. You can still download and install plugins individually using the Offline Installers.

Can I revert to a previous version of a plugin using Slate Digital Connect?

No — not yet. This feature is planned for a future update.

If you need older or 32-bit plugin versions, uninstall the latest version and download from this article.

Can I install only the plugin formats I need (VST/VST3/AAX/AU)?

Yes! In My Preferences, you can select only the formats you want to install.

Note: Any unchecked formats will be uninstalled during updates. For example, selecting only AAX will remove VST2, VST3, and AU formats.
