Where to Find A Plugin Version Number

When troubleshooting a plugin issue with Slate Digital Support, you may be asked to provide the plugin version number. This information helps us identify known bugs, regressions, or compatibility issues—especially when they may be tied to a specific release. In some cases, it’s also useful to know the version number if you're running an older macOS or DAW and need to ensure you're on a compatible build.

Below are three different ways to locate the version number of your Slate Digital plugin:

🧩 Method 1 – In Your DAW

With the plugin window open, click the "S" logo in the upper left corner of the user interface. A small overlay will appear showing the plugin version number.

Example shown below with Virtual Mix Rack:

📦 Method 2 – In the Slate Digital Connect App

Open the Slate Digital Connect app, locate the plugin in the list, click the three vertical dots to the right of the plugin name, then select "Release Notes". This will show the currently installed version along with a changelog of recent updates.

🍎 Method 3 – Mac Only: Finder “Get Info”

Navigate to one of the plugin directories via Finder. For example, the VST3 path:

Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Slate Digital

Right-click the plugin file (e.g., FG-X 2.vst3) and choose “Get Info”. The version number will be listed in the info panel.

🎤 Bonus Example – In Your DAW (Again)

Here's a second example, this time with the Virtual Microphone System plugin loaded in Reaper. Just like before, click the "S" logo to reveal the version number.
