The Air and Earth modules bring two of the easiest to use and best sounding features from Eiosis AirEQ.
Air is a smooth and silky high frequency adjustment. It can be used on any track in order to bring back some life and breathe, it will never sound harsh or unnatural.
Air has been designed to work on all types of audio material, and can be combined with the included HiCut filter as well! For instance, you can boost the Air to add smooth clarity to the signal and use the HiCut filter if the sound is too crisp.
Air is very different from a high frequency shelving filter that is usually used for that purpose, it’s way smoother as the frequency response is adjusted so that the changes in the sound when using the knob are always very steady and predictable.
Earth can be described as an adjustable transformer; its special phase design makes the sound tight and punchy. It’s great to add sub lows, without adding any boominess.
Because of its special phase behavior, the Earth is great to be used with the LoCut filter the same way as a Pultec equalizer: turn the Earth all the way up, and bring down the bass by using the 6dB to 24dB/oct LoCut filter. This way, you can take advantage of the very specific Earth sound, and adjust the bass amount with the LoCut filter.
The Earth filter has been designed to be heard on any type of transducer, so it’s great to add some extra low end that can be heard even on headphones, in a way that will always sound good in any situation or with any kind of track, without adding unpleasant peaks or very boomy resonances.
Using negative values of Earth can also be useful if you want to remove sub lows that are too loud. It will retain the punch and presence of the bass while removing the unnecessary low frequencies that could make make the sound muddy.
AirEQ Air
Air is a new type of filter that helps you to restore or to add brightness to the sound, while always remaining natural. It allows to gently add high frequencies, without adding harshness or unpleasant digital artifacts. The smoothness of the Air allows you to bring an instrument to the front of a mix, add a subtle brilliance to a sound or to make a vocal track breathe, simply by increasing Air.
Always natural and smooth, this band has been designed specifically to allow very smooth high frequency boosts, in a region of the audio spectrum where harshness can be quickly obtained.
HiCut
The HiCut is useful for attenuating frequencies above the cutoff frequency. Unlike many digital equalizers, the Air module’s HiCut filter is perfectly matched to an analog filter curve. This is very important in order to achieve a natural attenuation in the high frequencies.
Freq
Adjusts the filter’s cutoff frequency.
Q
Adjusts the resonance at the cutoff frequency.
Slope
Determines how quickly frequencies above the cutoff are attenuated. Select between 6dB - 36dB per octave.
AirEQ Earth
Earth brings deep and solid sub-lows. It can be described as an “adjustable transformer.” Inspired by real transformer behavior, it is now accessible with an easy, one-knob adjustment. The result is always a tight and precise bass sound, exempt of muddiness and nonlinearities.
Being all linear in amplitude (i.e. without distortion or harmonics) is very useful to adjust bass in a level-independent manner, without adding anything to the sound but what already exists in the signal. The Earth is very useful to quickly add some consistent sub-lows to tracks like kick drums and bass. However, it can be useful in many other situations, like sound effects, or any situation when you need to make a track deeper or more powerful.
LowCut
The LowCut is useful for attenuating frequencies below the cutoff frequency.
Freq
Adjusts the filter’s cutoff frequency.
Q
Adjusts the resonance at the cutoff frequency.
Slope
Determines how quickly frequencies above the cutoff are attenuated. Select between 6dB - 36dB per octave.
