Lookahead Settings
To ensure that e2deesser doesn't miss the initial sibilant transients, a lookahead option is available.
By introducing a slight delay, the detection algorithm can process the onset transients, ensuring that the very first sibilant sounds are caught accurately.
Accessing Lookahead
The lookahead feature can be accessed through the Configuration Menu. It offers three different settings:
- Zero Delay: Disables the lookahead option completely. No latency is introduced in this mode.
- 5 ms Lookahead: Introduces a small latency, automatically compensated by your DAW.
- 15 ms Lookahead: Introduces a slightly longer latency, also automatically compensated by your DAW.
Important: The Lookahead setting is not saved in:
- DAW session files
- Presets
- Snapshots
Instead, it is stored in a separate settings file shared across all instances of e²deesser on your system.
