Creating The Custom EQ
Inspired by combining multiple classic analog EQs, Steven Slate crafted a hybrid equalizer tailored for musical tone shaping. By analyzing dozens of reference mixes, he created a tone stack where each band was customized using layered analog inspirations.
The result: an intuitive, musical EQ processor that brings clarity, warmth, and character to any mix.

Creating the Custom Series EQ
After finalizing the analog design, the Slate Digital team meticulously modeled its sonic footprint. Each hybrid band’s harmonic profile was digitally recreated with precision, yielding a broad, smooth EQ that remains musical across all settings.
The EQ includes three fixed frequency options per band and high/low pass filters — ideal for tone shaping rather than surgical cuts.

The result: two powerful, musical filters (hi and low) with alternate flavors — called the Custom Series Lift.
Hi Lift
