Mac OS X Reinstall Procedure

Follow the steps below to completely uninstall and reinstall the original FG-X from your Mac:

Step 1: Download and Run the Uninstaller

Download the FG-X Uninstall.command file here.

Unzip the FG-X Uninstaller Mac.zip file, then right-click the uninstaller and select Open.

Note: If macOS blocks the uninstaller from running, please see this article.

A window will open asking if you're sure you want to remove Slate Digital FG-X. Click OK, then enter your password. (No text will appear while typing — this is normal.)

Step 2: Delete Remaining Files

Remove Preset and Support Files

Navigate to:

/Library/Application Support/Slate Digital/FG-X Virtual Mastering Console

Delete the FG-X Virtual Mastering Console folder to remove any leftover settings or presets.

⚠️ Important: If you have created custom user presets, make a backup of the Presets folder before deleting FG-X Virtual Mastering Console.

Step 3: Reinstall FG-X

Download the FG-X installer for macOS here.

Once the installation is complete, restart your computer to finalize the setup.

Optional: Manual Removal Instructions

If you are unable to run the Uninstall.command file or do not have a computer password set up, you can manually remove FG-X by deleting the plugin files from the following locations:

AAX: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/Slate Digital/

AU: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/

VST: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/

RTAS: /Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/
