ML-2 Optimal Recording Levels

The Classic Instruments microphones are calibrated so that an input signal peaking around -12 to -10 dBFS will match the original mic tone most accurately.

To help achieve the ideal level, you can place the VMR Trimmer module before the Classic Instruments module. This lets you monitor your input level while recording or adjust it later in the mix.

For creative coloration, you can also push the Classic Instruments module harder to generate more harmonics and tube-style saturation. These effects can be further emphasized using the Intensity knob.

🔎 Note: If you own an ML-2 microphone and have an All Access Pass or Complete Access Bundle subscription, you can now use your ML-2 Classic Instruments emulations inside the new Virtual Microphone System plugin.
