Why Are My Microphone Modules in Virtual Mix Rack Not Activated?

If you're an All Access Pass or Complete Access Bundle subscriber and you're seeing that microphone modules like Classic Tubes, Classic Instruments, or the expansions (Strongroom London, Classic 87, Blackbird Mics) are not activated in Virtual Mix Rack (VMR) β€” you're not alone. This is a common point of confusion, and we're here to clear it up.

πŸ”’ Why Are These Modules Unlicensed?

While your subscription does include the licenses for these microphone expansions, they require a base license called Virtual Microphone System One to function. This license is only included with the purchase of a physical ML-1 modeling microphone.

Without the ML-1 hardware and its accompanying license, the microphone modules in VMR will remain inactive.

πŸ”‘ What Does the ML-1 Microphone Unlock?

Purchasing an ML-1 includes a perpetual (non-expiring) license for the Virtual Microphone System One, which gives you access to:

  • Classic Tubes (8 mic models)

  • Virtual Preamp Collection (FG-76, FG-73)

  • Free VMR modules: Monster, Revival, Trimmer

🎀 What About the "Classic Instruments" Module?

The Classic Instruments module is exclusive to the ML-2 microphone. It also requires the corresponding license that comes with the ML-2 purchase.

πŸ›οΈ Want to Own the Mic Modules?

  • All microphone expansions are available for separate purchase in our plugin store

  • Or get them with your All Access Pass or Complete Access Bundle (as long as the Virtual Microphone System One license is active)

Memberships start at just $14.99/month β€” but remember, a hardware mic purchase is still required to unlock the modeling features.
