If you started a Complete Access free trial but your plugins won't activate (or display as "revoked"), this article explains why it happens, how to avoid it, and how our Support team can get you up and running.
Short version: If you've tried Complete Access before, always start a new trial with the same Slate Digital account and the same iLok ID. Using a different account or iLok ID on the same computer can cause iLok to block your trial licenses.
What you might see
Complete Access is made up of three collections, and each one appears as its own license in iLok:
- Complete Access: Slate Digital
- Complete Access: LiquidSonics
- Complete Access: Solid State Logic
If your trial is affected, one or more of these collections can be blocked. On Mac or Windows, you might see:
- A message saying "Some licenses could not be activated," naming the affected collections
- A plugin, such as MetaTune or Virtual Mix Rack, reporting "License not found"
- One or more collections listed as "Revoked" under iLok Licenses Status on your Complete Access subscription page
- A trial that shows as active in your account, but plugins that still won't unlock
Results can be mixed. In the example below, Solid State Logic is activated while Slate Digital and LiquidSonics are revoked. If any collection shows "Revoked," your trial is affected, even if another one looks fine.

Why this happens
The most common cause is a previous Complete Access trial on the same computer. iLok, the licensing system from PACE that protects our plugins, remembers when a trial has already been used on a computer. If a new trial is started there with a different Slate Digital account or iLok ID, iLok's fraud protection treats it as a possible duplicate trial and blocks the licenses from activating, even though the trial looks active in your account. This can happen without you meaning to, for example by signing up with a different email address or creating a new iLok account.
iLok also handles each collection separately, which is why results can be mixed. The customer in the example above had tried Slate Digital's Complete Access on its own in the past, back when the three collections weren't offered together. When they started a new trial later, iLok allowed only the Solid State Logic collection to activate.
How to avoid it
- Use the same Slate Digital account (email address) you used for any earlier Complete Access trial, even one from before the three collections were combined.
- Sign in to iLok with the same iLok User ID you used before.
- Don't create a new Slate Digital account or iLok ID to start another trial on the same computer.
Not sure which account you used? Search your inbox for earlier emails from Slate Digital or iLok, or let us know and we'll help you track it down.
If your trial is already affected
- Submit a request and include:
- The email address on your Slate Digital account
- Your iLok User ID
- A screenshot of the error, or of the iLok Licenses Status section on your subscription page
- The email address or iLok ID from any earlier trial, if you remember it
- We'll review your trial history and either deposit replacement licenses to your iLok account or reset the trial on your original account.
- Open iLok License Manager, sign in with your iLok User ID, and look for the new licenses under the Available tab. If you don't see the tab, expand the window or click your username. Replacement licenses may list their Type as "NFR Subscription" instead of "Trial/Demo." That's expected.
- Activate the licenses by following Activating your subscription licenses in the iLok License Manager.
Good to know
- Replacement licenses don't restart or extend your trial. Your original trial dates and billing terms still apply, so if you don't want to continue, cancel your subscription before the trial ends.
- Free trials (resets) are typically available about once a year. If it's been a while since your last trial, you can usually try again, as long as you use your original Slate Digital account and iLok ID.
