How to Rescan Plugins in Studio One

How to Rescan Plugins in Studio One

If your Slate Digital plugins are not showing up in Studio One, this article will walk you through how to reset the plugin blacklist and, if necessary, use additional troubleshooting steps to force a full rescan.

▶️ Step 1: Reset the Plugin Blacklist

Resetting the blacklist will trigger Studio One to scan your plugins again on its next launch. This is the easiest and most common fix.

Steps:

  1. Open Studio One
  2. Go to the Studio One menu Options (Windows) or Preferences (macOS)
  3. Select the Locations tab, followed by VST Plug-Ins in the section below.
  4. Click Reset Blacklist

After completing these steps, close and reopen Studio One to initiate the rescan.

🔧 Step 2: Additional Troubleshooting

If the blacklist reset doesn't resolve the issue, you'll need to manually clear Studio One’s plugin scan cache to force a deeper rescan.

How To Open Appdata

🍎 macOS (Intel):

~/Library/Application Support/PreSonus/<Studio One Version>/x64

🍎 macOS (Apple Silicon - M1, M2, M3, etc.):

~/Library/Application Support/PreSonus/<Studio One Version>/ARM64

⚠️ To access the hidden Library folder, hold down the “Option” key in Finder and click “Go” “Library”

Once the folder is renamed or deleted, reopen Studio One. It will create a new folder and fully rescan all installed plugins.

➕ Adding Plugin Paths (Windows Only)

If Studio One still isn't finding your Slate Digital plugins, make sure the VST2 plugin path is added manually:

To add plugin paths:

  1. Go to the Studio One menu Options
  2. Click the Locations tab VST Plugins
  3. Click Add, and choose the appropriate path:
  • VST2 64-bit:
    C:\Program Files\Vstplugins
  • VST3 64-bit:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
