If your iLok dongle is connected but not being detected, it may appear as "greyed out" or not show up at all in the iLok License Manager.
Below is an example of a greyed-out iLok titled "Slate Digital iLok":
The issue may stem from the USB dongle itself, the USB connection (dock, port, or adapter), or the iLok License Manager software. Follow the steps below to isolate the cause:
🔧 Rule out iLok software
If the iLok lights up but does not appear in the License Manager:
- Download and install the latest version of the iLok License Manager.
- Perform a clean reinstall by uninstalling the current version first.
- If the iLok appears but is still not functioning, right-click the device and choose Synchronize.
🌐 Rule out network/internet connection
- If the above doesn’t resolve the issue, try the iLok on another computer using a different internet connection.
- This helps confirm it’s not a localized connectivity issue.
💡 Rule out the iLok dongle hardware
- Plug the iLok into a known working USB port.
- If the iLok does not light up or shows physical damage, it may be defective.
- In this case, we recommend submitting a License Recovery and Replacement request via the iLok RMA process.
